Our Story

Founded in 2024, Accessible Futures Group brings together decades of combined expertise in digital inclusion, neurodiversity, and accessibility consulting across Wales and the UK.

While our company is new, our impact isn't. Our founding team has spent years working at the forefront of accessibility research, legal compliance, and neurodiverse support across education, public sector, and not-for-profit organisations. We established AFG to fill a critical gap in the market - moving beyond basic compliance to address the cognitive inclusion needs that traditional accessibility often overlooks.

What makes us different? We're the creators of Cognitive Access Design, a research-backed methodology that transforms how organisations think about inclusion. Rather than retrofitting accessibility as an afterthought, C.A.D embeds cognitive inclusion into the foundation of digital systems, physical workspaces and organisational culture.

Based in Ebbw Vale, Wales, and serving the UK nationally, we're proud to be a Welsh business contributing to local economic development while addressing inclusion challenges across diverse communities.

Our Team

Accessible Futures is driven by a highly skilled team with expertise in education, research and digital inclusion. We work with educational psychologists, experts in teaching and researching within higher education, and specialists in digital accessibility. As a fully neurodiverse founding team, we bring lived experience alongside academic qualifications and professional expertise.

Sammi brings comprehensive legal and research expertise to accessibility consulting, holding an LLB in law, an LLM in social care law with a disability focus, and an MSc in Social Science Research. Currently completing doctoral research on inclusion and opportunity for vulnerable groups in social care, she combines academic rigor with practical consulting experience. Her career spans consulting, research and teaching in law, with a track record of leading impactful projects in collaboration with businesses and local authorities across England and Wales. Neurodiversity and Access Insight Lead, Co-Founder

Ryan brings a unique blend of creative and academic expertise to accessibility consulting, holding a BA in Game Art with a focus on neurodiverse experience and an MSc in Educational Psychology. His specialised knowledge in gamification for education, particularly for neurodiverse learners, directly shapes how AFG designs inclusive content and learning experiences. Ryan's role is crucial in translating complex accessibility concepts into engaging, practical resources that organisations can actually implement. In his own time, Ryan is a passionate traditional pencil artist and brings the same attention to detail and visual clarity that characterises his professional accessibility work. He's also married to the Managing Director, proving that the best business partnerships sometimes start at home.

  • Thomas Rainey (BA FDA)

    Director of Innovation, Co-Founder

Thomas brings extensive academic and practical experience to accessibility consulting, holding a BA in Game Design with a specialised focus on neurodiversity support. With years of experience as a university lecturer, he has developed deep expertise in applying gamification principles to create engaging, accessible learning experiences for neurodiverse users. At AFG, Thomas leads the design and development of visual products and interactive resources. His university teaching background ensures all materials are pedagogically sound while remaining accessible to diverse learning styles. He works closely with education sector clients, public organisations and not-for-profits to create gamified learning experiences that reduce cognitive load while maintaining engagement and effectiveness. In his personal time, Thomas enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons, bringing the same creative problem solving and narrative thinking to his accessibility work.
